The Best Western Ascot Hotel is a protected historical house in Cologne city centre, located two kilometres from the magnificent cathedral and the museums. This seven floor property features 44 guestrooms with warm decor and cherry wood furnishings. All include direct dial phones, minibars, wireless Internet access, cable television, trouser presses and tea and coffee making facilities. Bathrooms have hair dryers.
Guests can work up a sweat in the fully equipped fitness centre for a small fee, and then relax with a drink in the popular lobby bar. Breakfast is served in the sunny breakfast room, and practical amenities include parking at a car park opposite the property (surcharge), a dry cleaning service, safe deposit boxes, and a 24 hour front desk. Please note:
From the 11th to the 13th August 2006 a festival with live concerts will take place between Hohenzollernring and Rudolfplatz. This may cause noise disturbance up until 10.30 PM. Furthermore the Hohenzollernring will be completely closed for traffic from the 10th to the 14th August 2006. As a result, guests will only be able to drive as far as Bismarckstrasse before completing the journey to the hotel on foot (a two minute walk). Regional and high speed European network trains serve the airport. Taxis are readily available outside Terminals One and Two. Airport shuttles are available to/from Cologne and Bonn every 15 minutes during the week, and every 30 minutes at the weekend. From the main train station, take the underground (line number Five) to Friesenplatz. All transport facilities (bus, tram, tube and the RE (RegionalExpress), RB (RegionalBahn) and S (S Bahn) trains) can be used with compound tickets which are issued by the Verkehrsverbund Rhein Sieg (VRS). Besides these there are train only tickets. Ticket vending machines at Cologne's train stations issue both kinds of tickets. At tram/tube/bus stations, only compound tickets (VRS) are available.
Driving directions: From the airport take motorway 59 to Cologne City Centre. Follow signs for Severinsbruecke. Cross the bridge to Barbarossaplatz. Turn right into Hohenstauffenring and continue for around four kilometres, past Rudolfplatz and Friesenplatz. After 200 metres the hotel is on the left.
